Fund for Peace (FFP) is an independent research nonprofit that produces the widely cited Fragile States Index to prevent violent conflict and promote sustainable security. FFP needed dynamic, global media data and faster trend analysis for early-warning work but was spending countless hours manually scanning articles and compiling data, making timely, detailed analysis difficult.

By adopting Meltwater’s global monitoring platform and uploading their 8,000+ Boolean search strings, FFP now systematically scans roughly 15 million articles per year and integrates those results with sources like the World Bank, UN and UNHCR. The platform enables complex searches, ad-hoc analysis and real-time trend reporting, accelerating production of the Fragile States Index, saving substantial researcher time and improving FFP’s ability to monitor and forecast instability for clients.
