Cracking the code: Symfony's search solution for 12 million words of documentation

The customer Symfony, an open-source PHP web development framework, faced challenges in providing fast and accurate search across its vast documentation spanning 30 versions and over 12 million words. Symfony implemented the open-source Meilisearch search engine, self-hosting it and using the Meilisearch PHP integration. The solution provided superior control, allowing them to parse content into smaller documents and configure stopwords and synonyms. The results were impressive, with Meilisearch indexing 800 documents per second and most queries returning in under 10 milliseconds. Since deployment, the Symfony team has received no negative feedback, confirming a significantly improved search experience for their users.
