Queensland Airports Limited (QAL), a regional airport operator in Australia, faced challenges in providing fast and reliable free Wi-Fi to passengers due to increasing demand and the high cost of traditional internet bandwidth. They partnered with vendor Megaport to find a more efficient and cost-effective connectivity solution using the Megaport Internet Exchange (MegaIX).

By deploying a port to the MegaIX for peering, Megaport enabled QAL to significantly increase user download speeds and network performance. This solution saved QAL approximately 90 cents to the dollar compared to traditional options, greatly improving the passenger experience at a fraction of the cost. Megaport also provided the flexibility for QAL to rapidly scale bandwidth to meet changing demands.
