A Megaport Case Study
Karma Automotive, a Southern California-based luxury electric vehicle manufacturer, faced significant challenges in optimizing its hybrid IT environment. Their design and manufacturing processes relied on high-performance computing (HPC) for simulations like computational fluid dynamics, but their on-premises infrastructure and AWS cloud workloads were disconnected. This lack of seamless, real-time data flow hindered their ability to make data-driven decisions efficiently and scale their compute resources on demand to support innovation.
Megaport provided its Network as a Service (NaaS) solution to create a seamless hybrid cloud architecture. This enabled Karma Automotive to establish low-latency, private connectivity between their colocation facilities and AWS, dramatically improving data flow. As a result, the company could scale from 200 to 5,000 compute cores in minutes, run complex simulations in the cloud, and efficiently extract results. Megaport's solution reduced total cost of ownership, enhanced the ability to perform critical crash and thermal analysis, and accelerated the design and manufacturing of their luxury electric cars.
