A Medusind Case Study
Birmingham Heart Clinic, a nine-provider cardiology practice in Birmingham, Ala., faced rapid growth, decentralized operations and the need to replace paper-based workflows to better coordinate care and meet quality-reporting requirements like PQRS and meaningful use. To modernize clinical and administrative processes, the practice engaged Medusind to deploy an integrated EHR and practice-management solution (PrimeSUITE) at the point of care.
Medusind implemented PrimeSUITE with tools such as Open Visit ID reporting, orders-tracking filters and custom clinical alerts to improve charge capture, follow-up and quality reporting. Over the first 12 months the practice recorded about 300 additional physician clinic visits per month, roughly a 3% increase in charge capture, more than a 10% rise in monthly receipts, a 3% increase in overall and per-provider income, a 9% reduction in transcription costs, dramatic chart supply/storage savings, and a $70,000 PQRS payment on a $4,500 investment—demonstrating measurable clinical and financial impact under Medusind’s deployment.
