Nissan Europe Accelerates Purchasing Efficiencies and Savings With Medius

Nissan Europe, a major arm of the global carmaker with extensive operations across the region, needed to centralize and modernize its indirect purchasing to improve efficiency, ensure Delegation of Authority (DoA) compliance and reduce costs as part of its Financial Break Through (FBT) program. Facing fragmented, largely paper-based processes across multiple countries and legacy SAP environments, Nissan selected Medius and its Medius Spend Management solution (backed by Medius Connect for SAP integration) to replace disparate systems with a single, user-friendly eProcurement platform.

Medius implemented a phased, multi-lingual rollout across 23 territories (serving thousands of users and ~8,000 suppliers), integrating with Nissan’s SAP landscape via 14 integration points and enabling parallel dual-running during the SAP upgrade. The Medius solution automated requisitions, approvals and supplier e-invoicing (≈600,000 invoices p.a.), delivering measurable results: total spend down 3%, maverick spend down 18%, a 43% reduction in cost to raise a purchase order and an 85% reduction in cost to process electronic invoices—demonstrating improved control, adoption and process efficiencies driven by Medius.
