Mitchells & Butlers Serves Up a Supply Chain Revolution

Mitchells & Butlers, one of the UK’s largest operators of restaurants, pubs and bars with 1,700 sites and around $1.3 billion annual supplier spend, faced slow, paper-based supplier onboarding, fragmented contract storage and limited auditability that hindered compliance and visibility. To drive a procurement excellence program across people, processes and systems they selected Medius and its cloud-based Medius Spend Management suite (deployed internally as GO!procure), including Medius Supplier Information Management (SIM) and Medius Contract Management.

Medius implemented a centralized, configurable cloud platform to automate supplier registration, onboarding, contract storage and compliance reporting, working closely with Mitchells & Butlers on configuration and supplier segmentation. The deployment reduced supplier onboarding from 3–4 weeks to a few hours, supported ~2,900 live suppliers (around 3,000 active compliant suppliers), onboarded 20–30 suppliers per month, stored 1,155 contracts, trained 1,300 users, improved audit trails and automated reminders, and delivered clearer visibility of spend under contract—reducing supply‑chain risk and saving significant time across the business.
