David Lloyd Leisure, one of Europe’s leading premium health, fitness and wellness club chains with 134 locations and over 750,000 members, was processing more than 18,000 invoices a month and struggling with a strained AP process during a Microsoft D365 migration. Challenges included a single inbox needing routing across 19 legal entities, frequent PO mismatches, 7,000 suppliers, and prior attempts at automation that were never fully activated. The company partnered with Medius to deploy AP automation using Medius’ AP management software.
Medius delivered a phased rollout with AI-driven invoice capture, a custom API rule to validate PO prefixes for correct entity routing, and a focus on the top 50–70 suppliers, while Medius and partners cleared a backlog by capturing 4,600 invoices in the first two weeks. The engagement produced higher automation rates, faster approvals, improved accuracy across 19 entities, a large reduction in manual processing, and freed the finance team for more strategic work; David Lloyd Leisure has since continued optimization through Medius Elevate.
