Rotherham Improves A&E Integration and Interoperability with MEDITECH’s EPR

Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust in South Yorkshire, England, needed an integrated and interoperable A&E solution after bringing its accident and emergency department, urgent care center, and certain primary care offices under one roof. To support this new model, the trust looked for a single EPR environment that could streamline workflows, improve communication, and connect systems that previously did not talk to each other, including its GP and NHS demographic systems.

Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust selected MEDITECH’s Emergency Department Management within its MEDITECH EPR to support triage, patient identification, and access to shared records, lab, radiology, and referral information. With MEDITECH, NHS number verification in A&E rose from 85% to 99%, and reduced penalties saved £153,300. The trust also gained faster triage, better care transitions, and more complete patient records for clinicians.
