RCCH HealthCare Partners Uses MEDITECH Toolkit and Surveillance Solution to Combat CAUTI

RCCH HealthCare Partners, a multi-state health system with five MEDITECH hospitals in the initiative, wanted to reduce catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) and standardize best practices for indwelling catheters. To address this challenge, the organization worked with MEDITECH and used its Quality and Surveillance Solution along with the CAUTI Prevention Toolkit.

MEDITECH’s solution helped RCCH monitor at-risk patients in real time, prompt timely catheter removal, support CDC-guided ordering, and reduce manual reporting. As a result, RCCH saw a 45% decrease in CAUTI from Q4 2017 to Q1 2018, a 35% reduction in indwelling catheter days, and less time spent by clinicians and infection control staff on paper-based reports.
