NMC Health, a 103-bed community hospital in Newton, Kansas, needed a better way to improve antibiotic prescribing practices and strengthen communication between pharmacists and providers. The hospital saw a 4% decrease in total antibiotic administration days and reduced cost per patient day from $9.10 to $6.39, a 30% drop, while also improving collaboration between pharmacists and hospitalists.
