Kingman Regional Medical Center cures 75 hepatitis C patients with MEDITECH

Kingman Regional Medical Center, located in a medically underserved area of Arizona, faced a significant challenge with a high susceptibility to hepatitis C virus (HCV) outbreaks and a lack of specialized treatment clinics. To improve community health, they aimed to establish a new initiative for HCV treatment and elimination. They partnered with vendor MEDITECH to leverage their Expanse EHR system to enhance workflows for screening and managing patients.

MEDITECH worked with the medical center to customize clinical tools within the Expanse EHR, incorporating screening protocols, standard order sets, and specialized documentation. They also created two patient registries and personalized Business and Clinical Analytics dashboards to track outcomes. As a result of this solution, the center now screens approximately 165 patients per month with a 6.5% positivity rate and averages 7.5 new referrals monthly. Most significantly, 75 patients had been cured of hepatitis C as of May 2023.
