Coffeyville Regional Medical Center Improves Patient Care with MEDITECH’s Depression Screening and Suicide Prevention Toolkit

Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, a 47-bed nonprofit hospital in Coffeyville, Kansas, wanted to improve depression screening across its hospital and outpatient clinics and make it easier for clinicians to follow the right steps when a patient screened positive for suicide risk. To support this effort, the medical center adopted MEDITECH’s Depression Screening and Suicide Prevention Toolkit, built on Expanse technology.

With MEDITECH’s toolkit, CRMC implemented evidence-based screening workflows, clinical decision support, and registry follow-up for the PHQ-9 and C-SSRS. In the first month alone, staff identified five patients at risk of suicide who might otherwise have been missed. The organization also improved its CMS2/MIPS performance from 20% to 67% attestation in eight months, while strengthening follow-up care and helping more patients get needed treatment.
