Beth Israel Deaconess Keeps Clinicians and Patients Connected with One Touch Feature in MEDITECH

Beth Israel Deaconess’s Community Hospitals, part of Beth Israel Lahey Health, needed a better way to connect clinicians and patient data across multiple care settings and EHR systems. Working with MEDITECH, the organization focused on improving interoperability during its CommunityONE rollout on MEDITECH Expanse while supporting information exchange with affiliated organizations using other vendors’ systems.

MEDITECH implemented the One Touch interoperability feature, allowing clinicians to open external EHRs directly from their workflow, share sign-on credentials, and view a more complete patient record without extra reauthentication steps. The result was smoother care transitions, improved continuity of care, and faster access to critical results and notifications, which the CIO described as a “game changer” for physicians and a boost to patient safety.
