Alder Hey Children’s Transforms Care with MEDITECH’s Interoperability Solutions

Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, one of Europe’s largest children’s hospitals, needed a better way to share patient information across the Cheshire and Merseyside region. Working with MEDITECH, the hospital set out to create a shared patient record and improve interoperability so clinicians could access information more easily across care settings and reduce delays caused by fragmented, manual information sharing.

MEDITECH’s interoperability solutions, including its continuity of care document (CCD) and support for open standards like XDS and FHIR, helped Alder Hey build a vendor-agnostic shared record that fit into clinical workflows. The result was faster access to documents and patient histories across seven sites, with more than 2 million unique patients registered and 350,000 documents shared, saving time and clicks while improving decision-making and reducing duplicate investigations.
