Using MediSked Connect to Support Meaningful Lives by Eliminating Paper, Making Records Accessible

Mending Hearts, Inc., a community provider in Hazard, Kentucky serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, faced overwhelming paper-based recordkeeping—producing several four-inch binders per recipient, struggling to find notes during audits, and storing records offsite. In March 2014 the agency selected MediSked and its web-based platform, MediSked Connect, to eliminate paper and make records and care information easily accessible.

Using MediSked Connect, Mending Hearts scanned up to twenty years of legacy records, began entering new notes, care and activity plans, and implemented electronic medication administration records tracked by five administrators. MediSked customized fields and added communication tools and searchable indexing; the conversion took about one to two months. The result was elimination of new paper production, centralized and searchable records, faster retrieval (print or email), reduced paper/ink/time, improved auditing, and better staff communication and accuracy.
