WGBH's iconic mural powered by MediaVue

WGBH, the Boston public media company, wanted its new headquarters to reflect its mission with a striking digital installation visible to commuters. The challenge was to create a large exterior mural with 13 separate display sections that would look cohesive across wide gaps, switch to nighttime content to reduce light disruption for nearby residents, and remain highly reliable with no downtime. MediaVue Systems provided the platform for the project.

MediaVue Systems worked with integrator Imperatives, Inc. to build a custom playback solution using SureVue D4 media players, including two configured in parallel for redundancy. The system drives a seamless 6112 x 672 pixel mural across all 13 sections, automatically changes to a starry night scene after 8 p.m., and refreshes with new content by 6:30 a.m. for morning traffic. The result was Boston’s first-of-its-kind digital mural, seen by more than 500,000 travelers per week and, since 2007, by millions of passersby with over 10,000 images displayed.
