Case Study: Mediaco achieves standardized, branded, high-quality event webcasting with MediaPlatform

A MediaPlatform Case Study

Preview of the Mediaco Case Study

Mediaco - Customer Case Study

Mediaco, one of Canada’s largest AV staging companies, tasked Andrew Irving with bringing webcasting in-house while maintaining the high production values its clients expect. The company needed a solution that would standardize service across its five Canadian locations, create custom-branded viewer interfaces, coordinate multiple remote presenters and production teams, and integrate smoothly with existing lighting, sound and stage operations. To meet these needs Irving evaluated options and selected MediaPlatform’s webcasting tools, choosing a fully software-based approach over hardware to handle Mediaco’s distributed, fluid event requirements.

Using MediaPlatform’s tools, Mediaco implemented a single back-end system that lets Irving rapidly design client-specific players, incorporate branding and functionality on short approval cycles, and manage dynamic production roles and multiple remote streams. The MediaPlatform solution enabled standardized webcasting across all five locations, supported coordination of half-a-dozen remote production teams when needed, and was used successfully for live events such as the 2010 BC Hydro Power Smart Forum — effectively bringing webcasting in-house and delivering a viewer experience that matches the live event.
