With no clear way to detect or understand the disease, they partnered with the vendor MediaCom to create a mobile game, Sea Hero Quest, to help gather crucial research data from the public.
MediaCom's solution was Sea Hero Quest, a game that secretly recorded players' navigational skills to create a benchmark for measuring dementia. The results were exceptional: over 1.4 million people participated, generating data equivalent to over 50 years of lab research. The game was a massive success, topping download charts in 40 markets and receiving widespread media coverage, all while strengthening Deutsche Telekom's brand message.
