Supporting the Backbone of Rural Community Health Diamond Class Patient Experience in the Rough Countryside

Aspen Mountain Medical Center, a boutique surgical center serving a 100+ mile radius in Rock Springs, Wyoming, faced long patient travel times, fragmented continuity of care, and pressure on clinical staff as it expanded specialty services. To address these challenges the facility partnered with MEDHOST, using MEDHOST-hosted EHR services and the MEDHOST Perioperative Information Management System (PIMS) alongside MEDHOST financial tools and Enterprise modules.

MEDHOST implemented and optimized PIMS integrated with Aspen’s clinical notes and vitals systems, automated charge capture and billing workflows, and enabled price-estimation and community-event tracking. The MEDHOST solution improved interoperability, reduced charting time so nurses spend more time at the bedside, streamlined preadmission processes to cut unnecessary patient travel, and increased financial transparency; Aspen now also participates on the MEDHOST customer advisory board to help guide future development.
