Wise Health System Improves Clinical Quality and Revenue Lifecycle with Data Analytics

Wise Health System, a network of hospitals and clinics in Decatur, Texas, faced siloed clinical and financial operations that were exposed by the ICD-10 transition, leading to coding issues, higher denials, workflow inefficiencies, and poor coordination of care. To bridge that divide and improve both revenue cycle performance and clinical outcomes, Wise Health System partnered with MedeAnalytics and deployed its data analytics and revenue cycle management solutions.

MedeAnalytics provided enterprise-wide analytics and supported a cross-functional committee to align clinical and financial teams, enabling targeted programs such as expanded post-discharge follow-up for heart failure and A1C-focused diabetes interventions. The results were significant: heart failure readmissions fell from 32% to 6%, average A1C dropped from 8.78 to 7.07, unspecified code use decreased 18.2%, case mix index rose 34.7%, CC/MCC capture improved 129.2%, appeal success increased 18.3%, and patient satisfaction reached 80% (up from 69%).
