A MedeAnalytics Case Study
Jersey City Medical Center, part of Barnabas Health and a major regional referral and teaching hospital, was facing near-bankruptcy in 2011 and struggled with disjointed, paper- and spreadsheet-based planning that undermined efforts across its four pillars of excellence (patient safety, clinical quality, engagement, and economic health). Seeking a unified platform to drive transparency, communication, and accountability, the hospital selected MedeAnalytics’ Performance Management solution.
MedeAnalytics implemented its web-based Performance Management platform (deployed October 2013) to centralize strategic plans, provide dashboard views for monthly executive reviews, and hold teams accountable for key metrics. As a result, Jersey City Medical Center won the state Baldrige Vision of Performance Excellence Award, earned eight consecutive “A” Leapfrog safety ratings, raised operating margin from 2.4% in 2011 to 7.3% in 2013, and achieved quality scores over 95% in key areas (95.2% heart attack, 97.3% cardiac), while improving employee engagement—outcomes the hospital attributes to its partnership with MedeAnalytics.
