Ardent Health Services Improves Revenue Under ICD-10

Ardent Health Services, a 14‑hospital acute care system serving Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico, faced significant coding and documentation challenges after the ICD‑10 transition increased code volume and specificity. The system needed to protect revenue integrity, improve coder productivity, reduce unspecified/secondary code usage, and target education with meaningful data — so Ardent partnered with MedeAnalytics and used its revenue‑integrity/analytics capabilities to drive visibility into coding and documentation trends.

MedeAnalytics supported Ardent’s Health Information Integrity (HII) program by enabling remote nurses to perform pre‑bill reviews and by providing dashboards for DRGs, service lines, secondary diagnosis codes and clinical indicators; the team also used MedeAnalytics for retrospective DRG audits and standardized, role‑based reporting. As a result, Ardent reduced take‑back risk, increased revenue through improved case‑mix and CC/MCC capture rates, standardized reporting and targeted education, and was better able to engage leadership and adapt to value‑based care.
