A Medallia Case Study
Victoria University, a large and diverse higher-education institution with more than 40,000 students, needed to develop a new seven‑year strategic plan in a compressed timeframe during the COVID‑19 pandemic after previous low staff engagement. To co-design the strategy and boost participation while staff were remote, Victoria University used Medallia’s idea-collaboration platform, branded internally as The Workshop (Medallia Ideas).
Medallia’s Workshop enabled a democratic, digitally driven process that issued 16 “Challenges,” consulted around 1,200 people (including students and external partners), and generated about 4,000 votes; the university completed and had the Strategic Plan approved in a 10‑week sprint, achieving its highest level of staff engagement and creating an ongoing hub for staff input. By using Medallia, Victoria University increased staff ownership of the strategy, reset organisational culture, and committed to expanding The Workshop as its main staff-engagement platform.
