A MecSoft Corporation Case Study
Key Lime Air, a medium-sized aircraft charter company, was faced with the challenge of designing and producing highly detailed, custom parts for remote-controlled jets. Cliff Honeycutt, the company's CEO and an avid hobbyist, needed a way to create these complex components in-house with his limited machining experience, as most parts were manufactured overseas and difficult to source or repair. He turned to MecSoft Corporation and its integrated CAM solution, VisualMILL for SolidWorks, to tackle this challenge from his own garage.
Using VisualMILL for SolidWorks, particularly its 4th axis machining capabilities, Cliff was able to design and machine intricate parts from solid aluminum stock. MecSoft provided crucial support and guidance, enabling him to become proficient without formal training. The solution made an seemingly impossible task not only possible but relatively simple, allowing him to produce extremely detailed scale landing gear. The vendor, MecSoft, provided technology that was both phenomenally capable and easy to use, directly enabling the customer's ambitious hobbyist projects.
