Composite Solutions, a cut-to-print facility based in New Zealand, required a method to operate the aggregate drill block attachments on their CNC routers. Their challenge was generating the specific G-code needed to control multiple specialized drill spindles simultaneously, a task beyond the capability of standard CAM software post-processors. They partnered with MecSoft Corporation and utilized the programmable post-processor technology within their RhinoCAM software.

MecSoft developed a custom Python-based programmable post-processor for RhinoCAM. This solution allowed Composite Solutions to encode their drill instructions directly into a tool number within a standard drilling operation. The custom post then decoded this number during processing to output the precise G-code commands (M88 and M89) that activate the desired spindles on the drill block. This innovation provided the facility with the specialized functionality they needed, enabling them to efficiently produce complex projects for their clients across various industries.
