Blase Photography - Customer Case Study

Michael Blase of Blase Photography creates intricate, physical sets for his surreal photography, moving away from CGI. He was using VCarve software that came with his ShopBot CNC router, but found the workflow of exporting and converting files from his design program, Rhino, to be time-consuming and prone to errors when changes were needed. This inefficiency in manufacturing his props was a significant challenge for his New York-based studio.

To overcome this, he implemented RhinoCAM from MecSoft Corporation. This CAM software integrated directly with his Rhino design environment, eliminating the cumbersome export/import process. This streamlined workflow allowed for rapid design changes and more efficient toolpath generation, enabling him to machine complex set pieces, like a window prop with multiple 2½ axis operations, quickly and accurately. The solution from MecSoft Corporation empowered Blase to focus more on his creative photography and less on the manufacturing overhead.
