Fluvius, the independent Belgian grid operator, needed a complete solution to collect, process, and distribute metering data from 7 million supply points across electricity, gas, and other utility networks. MECOMS provided the platform used to run handheld terminals for meter readers, automatic meter readings, web-based services, and the underlying data processing system.

MECOMS implemented a flexible, high-performance solution that processes millions of meter readings, validates data with changing regulatory rules, converts readings into consumptions, and handles complex historic metering configurations. The system also supports AMR for large industrial customers, hourly gas consumption reporting for the 500 largest gas customers, infeed and allocation calculations, and gridfee invoicing, helping Fluvius improve follow-up and quality while reliably managing a growing and evolving market.
