Xilinx, a leader in programmable logic solutions, needed a way to monitor and record environmental and facility conditions at its manufacturing site in CityWest, Dublin. Measuresoft was brought in to provide a SCADA-based monitoring system, with requirements including temperature and humidity tracking, UPS power monitoring, gas discharge detection, liquid leak detection, voltage surge monitoring, and alerts via pager, email, and SMS.

Measuresoft implemented ScadaPro on the Microsoft Windows platform, connected through a Datascan network to Vaisala probes and third-party detection and building systems. The solution now logs plant conditions, generates alarms for power, gas, and liquid leaks, and sends notifications by email, SMS, pagers, and speakers, while also producing daily and weekly trend reports and an archive for traceability and quality purposes. Xilinx reported benefits for quality assurance, preventative maintenance, early warning of unsuitable environmental conditions, and lower training costs, and noted this was the third successful ScadaPro installation at Xilinx.
