Novum, a Dublin-based commercial refrigerator manufacturer, needed a better way to test refrigerators through operating cycles before dispatch. Its existing chart recorders lacked the flexibility, traceability, and detailed information required by test engineers, management, and customers, so Novum turned to Measuresoft for an automated data acquisition, data logging, and record collection system.

Measuresoft implemented a ScadaPro-based solution running on a single Microsoft Windows NT PC, using a Datascan distributed data acquisition network to capture temperature, humidity, and pressure. The new system automatically starts and stops tests, supports concurrent testing in three rooms, generates trend reports, and archives batch results for traceability, while exporting data to Excel. As a result, Novum achieved easier, more reliable, and repeatable testing at lower cost, rapid operator adoption, and a strong competitive advantage as the only commercial refrigerator manufacturer offering this level of testing accountability.
