How London Stock Exchange Group and Measurabl Are Advancing Green Indexes with Investment-Grade Data

FTSE Russell, part of London Stock Exchange Group, needed a better way to measure and compare real estate sustainability performance for its benchmark indexes. The challenge was the lack of consistent, timely, and credible asset-level carbon and ESG data, which made it difficult for investors to align capital with real-world environmental performance. To address this, FTSE Russell worked with Measurabl and its Quantum platform, using ESGx Securities to bring investment-grade sustainability data into its real estate benchmarks.

With Measurabl’s asset-level data, FTSE Russell launched more transparent, performance-optimized green indexes that reward measurable improvement in carbon intensity, energy use, and green building certifications rather than simply excluding companies. The approach is already influencing major capital flows, including BlackRock’s iShares Global Real Estate Environmental Tilt UCITS ETF, and is helping improve capital allocation across more than $320B in benchmarked assets. FTSE Russell and Measurabl report that the model creates clearer ESG visibility, stronger investor confidence, and a direct link between sustainability performance and financial outcomes.
