A Measurabl Case Study

Preview of the Boston Properties Case Study

BXP Uses Measurabl to Support the Execution of Industry-Leading ESG Strategy

Boston Properties (BXP), the largest publicly traded developer, owner, and manager of Class A office properties in the U.S., needed a way to centralize energy and utility data and give onsite property managers and engineers timely, actionable insights to meet aggressive energy‑reduction and carbon‑neutral goals (net‑zero operations by 2025). To do this they selected Measurabl and its Measurabl Asset Optimization platform to deliver the monitoring, analytics, and reporting required to quantify avoided consumption, emissions, and costs.

Measurabl deployed Asset Optimization to aggregate utility bills and real‑time energy data, automatically surface efficiency measures, provide engineering support, and integrate with BXP’s internal systems via single sign‑on. The partnership produced measurable results: since 2017 Measurabl‑generated measures account for 13.4M kWh of savings (≈$1.4M in avoided annual energy expense), BXP used over 1,500 weather‑adjusted reports in 2021 to benchmark buildings during COVID, and these efforts supported BXP’s industry awards and ongoing ESG leadership.
