A MDClone Case Study
Intermountain Healthcare, a large not-for-profit health system in Utah and Idaho, needed a better way to turn its fragmented clinical and claims data into timely insights. As patient volumes and data sources grew, analysts and clinicians were slowed by IT dependencies, long turnaround times, unstructured data, and privacy constraints, making it difficult to support population health and value-based care.
To address this, Intermountain Healthcare partnered with MDClone and used its self-service analytics platform with privacy-protecting synthetic data. MDClone helped the organization unify more than 15 years of data into over seven million patient histories, enabling faster, clinician-led querying and easier sharing. The results included a 25% reduction in chronic kidney disease hospitalizations, an estimated $5.7M in annual savings, 86% avoidance in unplanned admissions for the CKD risk population, no progression to dialysis among stage G2A or G3B patients, and additional annual savings of more than $7M in cardiovascular care and $21.6M from improved diabetes outcomes.
