Coal-fired power stations at Eemshaven and Hamm for RWE

HOCHTIEF, contracted by RWE to deliver the structural design for two large coal‑fired power stations (Eemshaven and Hamm, each providing ~1,600 MW), faced the challenge of coordinating complex, high‑volume technical documentation across multinational teams, subcontractors and sites while ensuring everyone worked from the latest revisions.

HOCHTIEF deployed McLaren Software’s internet‑based document management early in planning, using a configurable folder structure that mirrors the building layout and simple tools that subcontractors can adopt quickly. The centralised system provided real‑time access to current documents, faster distribution of revisions and greater transparency, driving high user adoption, improved project communication and more efficient collaboration across teams.
