The City of Rochester Partners with McKinstry to Revitalize Two of the City’s Landmarks

The City of Rochester, led by a commitment to ambitious climate goals, faced the challenge of revitalizing two aging civic landmarks without straining its capital budget. The city partnered with McKinstry to implement energy efficiency and infrastructure improvements at the Mayo Civic Center and Rochester Recreation Center, utilizing the State of Minnesota’s Energy Savings Program for financing.

McKinstry delivered a comprehensive solution that included lighting retrofits, building controls optimization, mechanical improvements, and an ice plant conversion with heat recovery. These measures, guaranteed by McKinstry, resulted in combined annual savings of $332,000 and a reduction of 1,933 tons in carbon emissions, successfully modernizing the facilities while significantly cutting their operational costs and environmental impact.
