Phoenix Convention Center Lighting Transformation Has Big Impacts

The Phoenix Convention Center, a major convention venue for the City of Phoenix, was pursuing its high sustainability standards and sought to overhaul its complicated and physically challenging lighting system. To achieve significant cost and energy use reductions, the facility partnered with vendor McKinstry for a comprehensive lighting retrofit and controls project.

McKinstry conducted an investment grade audit and designed a solution involving the replacement of over 15,000 fixtures with LEDs and the installation of a sophisticated, customized lighting control system. This $7 million project implemented by McKinstry improved functionality and lighting quality while generating over $590,000 in annual operating savings and reducing carbon emissions by 2,514 tons annually for the city.
