Adams 12 Five Star Schools District Transform STEM Lab School with Solar Installation

Adams 12 Five Star Schools District sought a way to generate energy savings, reduce maintenance costs, and create a hands-on learning experience for students at their STEM Lab school. To achieve the carbon reduction goals in their Sustainability Management Plan, they partnered with McKinstry on an Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) project.

McKinstry implemented a 365 kW roof-mount solar array for the district. This solution offsets 95% of the building's annual electricity use and reduces carbon emissions by 387 metric tons annually. The project transformed the STEM Lab into the district's most efficient building, allowing saved utility costs to be reinvested into facility upgrades while providing students with a live educational resource.
