HelpSystems Integrates McAfee Embedded Control Antivirus Protection for Power Systems Servers

Fortra, then operating as HelpSystems, is a global provider of solutions for IBM systems management, security, and business intelligence. Its challenge was protecting customers from infected files on IBM Power Systems host servers, where a single virus could spread quickly across connected devices and there was no automatic recovery option if files were compromised. To address this, Fortra partnered with McAfee and used McAfee Embedded Control antivirus protection.

McAfee integrated its Embedded Control scanning engine into HelpSystems’ StandGuard Anti-Virus product to deliver heuristic detection of known and previously unknown threats across multiple platforms. The result was stronger virus protection for Power Systems customers, backed by McAfee Labs’ real-time global threat research. McAfee’s reputation also helped sales efforts by giving customers added confidence in the security of their data, making the solution more competitive in the market.
