Contec Protects Embedded Computing with Whitelisting

Contec, a global manufacturer of industrial and embedded computers, needed to meet customers’ security requirements for IoT deployments while staying competitive in the high-tech embedded market. To address this challenge, Contec turned to McAfee and its Application Control solution to add security to its BX-825 embedded fog computer.

McAfee implemented application whitelisting to block unauthorized code, allowing only trusted applications to run while preserving limited local memory resources. The result was comprehensive malware protection, stronger regulatory compliance, and a solution that is easy for non-security-expert users to configure and maintain. McAfee also helped Contec become the first embedded PC vendor to make whitelisting a standard security measure on its devices.
