China Pacific Insurance Protects Business and Customers with Security Management System

China Pacific Insurance Group (CPIC), a national insurance company in mainland China, needed a stronger way to protect more than 30,000 endpoints and thousands of servers as it expanded online services, Big Data analytics, and other digital initiatives. Its previous SIEM solution could not keep up with the volume and speed of security events, making it harder to detect threats, protect sensitive customer data, and respond quickly to incidents. CPIC turned to McAfee, using McAfee Enterprise Security Manager along with McAfee Network Security Platform and McAfee Web Gateway.

McAfee helped CPIC build its “Hawkeye” big data security management and control platform, which centralizes monitoring, automates correlation and prioritization, and supports faster incident response and compliance reporting. The system collects about 1.5 billion logs per day from 32 source types and identifies roughly 5,000 threat warnings daily, enabling CPIC to detect risks such as worm spread and unauthorized access much more effectively. As a result, CPIC achieved centralized security management, reduced compliance risk, faster threat detection and analysis, and a markedly improved security posture.
