British Acute Healthcare Provider Builds Adaptable Security Infrastructure

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, an acute NHS care provider in Northeastern England, needed to protect 6,000 endpoints and sensitive patient data while continuously adapting to major changes in its environment, including the move to electronic patient records and increased information sharing across healthcare organizations. With a small security team and limited resources, the Trust needed stronger visibility, control, and threat protection against evolving cyberattacks, including zero-day threats.

To address these challenges, the Trust implemented McAfee’s integrated security platform, including McAfee Endpoint Security, Web Gateway, Advanced Threat Defense, SIEM, DLP Endpoint, and ePolicy Orchestrator. McAfee helped the Trust block WannaCry without interrupting patient services, cut help desk calls by 80%, reduce outbound connections to known indicators of compromise from 2,500 to zero in two weeks, and improve visibility and incident response across the enterprise.
