University of Alabama - Customer Case Study

The University of Alabama used McGraw Hill’s Connect Accounting in Professor Lisa McKinney’s Introduction to Accounting course to address a common challenge: maximizing lecture time while ensuring students mastered lower-level concepts and homework outside of class. With 400 students enrolled annually in a traditional four-credit course, the team needed a way to improve engagement, attendance, and academic performance.

McGraw Hill implemented weekly graded Connect Accounting assignments with unlimited attempts, randomized problems, and supporting reports for instructors. The results were strong: attendance rose from 75% to 90% or more, student retention increased by 5%, course passing rates increased by 5%, quiz averages improved from 75% to 81%, and exam averages increased from 72% to 75%.
