A McGraw Hill Case Study
Triton College, a diverse two‑year institution serving about 11,500 students with roughly 65% placing into developmental math, was grappling with a lengthy remediation pipeline, low pass rates (around 50%) and inequitable outcomes that threatened retention and graduation. To address this, Triton partnered with McGraw Hill and implemented ALEKS, McGraw Hill’s adaptive learning system, as the core personalized tool in a new iLaunch Lab model.
McGraw Hill’s ALEKS was deployed in a lab-based, mastery-driven program with peer tutors, weekly goals and just‑in‑time instruction; within a year Triton’s overall developmental math pass rate climbed from 52% (Fall 2017) to 61% (Fall 2018) and remained around 60% in subsequent terms. The iLaunch Lab also enabled acceleration—13% of students completed two courses in one term, saving about $47,000 in tuition—and produced strong student outcomes and increased equity and retention across the program.
