Towson University - Customer Case Study

Towson University, working with McGraw Hill, needed a better way to engage students and reduce the DFW rate in its Fin 331-013 Principles of Financial Management course. The university had previously used an online homework system, but Professor Michaël Dewally wanted course content more closely tied to the textbook and a stronger way to prepare students before class.

McGraw Hill implemented Connect® Finance with Blackboard Integration, along with LearnSmart, to support pre-lecture preparation, in-class recitation, and more targeted homework. The results were strong: the DFW rate fell to 10% from a historical 20%+, no students failed during the Connect/LearnSmart semester, and 93% of students earned a C or higher versus 72% previously. Professor Dewally also reported higher student engagement, better attendance, and reduced grading and prep time.
