San Diego State University - Customer Case Study

San Diego State University, working with McGraw Hill, needed a better way to support a large Principles of Marketing course while reducing instructor workload. Professor Lois Bitner Olson was spending too much time creating assignments and troubleshooting technical issues in her course management system, and she wanted a more effective way for students to practice applying marketing concepts. The course used McGraw-Hill’s Connect® Marketing with the textbook *Marketing* by Grewal and Levy, 2e.

McGraw Hill implemented Connect Marketing through the Instructor Library to deliver interactive quizzes, assignments, and eBook access, helping improve engagement and reduce administrative burden. The results were strong: student final averages rose by as much as 5 points in Spring 2010, and by 6–7 points in a subsequent online course. Instructor grading and assignment-prep time dropped by more than 88%, from 4.5 hours per week to just 30 minutes, while students also benefited from more affordable digital course materials.
