A McGraw Hill Case Study
Rowan College at Burlington County sought to boost student performance on chapter quizzes and final exams while streamlining delivery of digital course materials. Instructor Dr. Brandon Chapman adopted McGraw Hill resources—using McGraw Hill Connect® (Experience Sociology) with SmartBook assignments integrated into Blackboard—and leveraged the campus Inclusive Access program to give students immediate, low‑friction access to course content.
McGraw Hill’s Connect and SmartBook were assigned to a treatment Principles of Sociology section (the control section received no SmartBook), with Connect assignments deployed through Blackboard and Inclusive Access ensuring instant availability. The outcome: students in the SmartBook section scored 1–5% higher on over 80% of chapter quizzes, Chapman reduced grading time through auto‑graded Connect content while using SmartBook analytics to target weak topics, and student evaluations of textbook materials improved—demonstrating measurable gains attributable to McGraw Hill.
