A McGraw Hill Case Study
Muzzy Lane, a maker of game‑based learning experiences, needed to help instructors reliably auto‑assess whether students can apply what they’ve learned and to better engage nontraditional students who require flexible, bite‑sized practice. In partnership with McGraw Hill and informed by Gates‑funded research and a 1,700‑student survey, Muzzy Lane sought scalable, curriculum‑friendly solutions that faculty could author, customize, and integrate without disrupting courses.
McGraw Hill implemented the solution by integrating Muzzy Lane’s Application Based Activities (ABAs) and ABA authoring tools into its content and delivery ecosystem—combining MHE content, OER, LTI integrations, LMS delivery, and development support. The McGraw Hill partnership targeted availability of 900 ABAs across 25+ disciplines by the end of 2020, enabling instructors to auto‑assess application and critical‑thinking skills at scale and expanding access to flexible, practice‑oriented game‑based learning.
