Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) - Customer Case Study

Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) faced widespread course-material access issues: only 30% of students bought materials through the bookstore while many others bought from sources that didn’t accept financial aid, bought the wrong items, or went without materials and arrived unprepared. To address this, FSCJ piloted an Inclusive Access program branded FSCJ ACCESS (integrated with Canvas) in partnership with McGraw Hill, using an opt-out model to deliver correct digital materials to students before classes began.

McGraw Hill helped implement an automated Inclusive Access solution—provisioning courseware through the LMS, applying charges at registration, handling drops and opt-outs, and providing faculty/stakeholder training—which scaled from 17 pilot sections to over 300 in fall 2021. The program delivered measurable results: FSCJ ACCESS materials averaged $18.89 per credit hour, students saved more than $350,000 in the first year, 97% of students and 90% of faculty would participate again, and faculty reported improved student readiness, demonstrating McGraw Hill’s impact on affordability and access.
