A McGraw Hill Case Study
Bowling Green State University, working with McGraw Hill, was looking to modernize an outdated course workflow in which Professor Kyle Moninger relied on printed homework, hand grading, and heavy administrative overhead. The lack of technology made it hard to free up lecture time for the concepts and calculations students struggled with most, and students were not consistently engaging with the textbook before class.
McGraw Hill’s Connect, along with SmartBook/LearnSmart assignments, was implemented to deliver pre-class reading, homework, quizzes, and exams in one integrated system through the LMS. The result was stronger student engagement and performance: A/B grades rose from 41% to 47%, pass rates increased from 63% to 87%—a 24% improvement—and exam scores improved by 8% overall, while retention also ticked up from 94% to 96%.
