Western Sydney University improves accessible navigation across 11 campuses with MazeMap

Western Sydney University, a large Australian higher education institution, faced challenges with its traditional physical signage across its 11 campuses. The static signs were difficult to maintain, unresponsive to real-time changes, and failed to meet the accessibility needs of students with mobility impairments. To modernize its wayfinding, the university partnered with vendor MazeMap to implement a digital navigation solution.

The solution from MazeMap provided an interactive, mobile-first map system accessible via QR codes. This allowed students to find accessible routes on their phones and gave staff the ability to make live updates. MazeMap’s platform made campus navigation more inclusive and efficient, reducing the burden of maintaining physical signs and setting a foundation for future smart campus integrations like real-time shuttle tracking.
